Exciting Partnership Announcement
July 29, 2024Kaiden Johnson’s Mixed Performance at Barona Speedway
Kaiden Johnson, the talented 11-year-old racer from Lakeside, CA, had a rollercoaster weekend at the latest Barona Speedway races, competing in both the Masters Mini Dwarfs and Junior Sprints divisions.
In the Masters Mini Dwarfs division, Johnson showcased his skill in Heat 1 by securing a solid victory from a third-place starting position. However, his performance in Heat 2 was less favorable, where he finished in fourth place. This inconsistency carried into the A Feature 1, where Johnson started from 5th and initially fell back to 6th place. On the last lap, he made a crucial inside pass in Turn 4, crossing the finish line in 4th place—a notable improvement from his position earlier in the race.
In the Junior Sprints division, Johnson faced a particularly challenging weekend. He started the heat races strong, finishing 2nd in Heat 2 after starting from 3rd. However, the feature race proved problematic. After starting from pole position, Johnson was running competitively until Lap 15, when a yellow flag came out and he experienced a mechanical issue—the exhaust fell off. This led to his inability to finish the race, resulting in a DNF (Did Not Finish) and a significant setback given his earlier strong performance.
Overall, while Johnson demonstrated competitive spirit and skill in the Masters Mini Dwarfs, his Junior Sprints outing was marred by mechanical difficulties, resulting in a mixed bag of results for the young driver. Despite these challenges, his resilience and performance in the Mini Dwarfs indicate promising potential for future races.
Moving into the rest of 2024 and the beginning of 2025, Kaiden will begin to shift his focus away from the home track of Barona Speedway and onto the competitive tracks of Plaza Parkway, Adobe Speedway, and Lemoore Speedway trading his Mini Dwarfs and Junior Sprints for the next level in racing – the 600CC Micro Sprint cars.
